Special Note to Current LYNX for Banner Users

If you're already using the Banner version of the Interface, but now want to make use of the Institution Codes (GTVVPDI codes) to Section Event Types translation feature, please contact Series25 Technical Support (support@collegenet.com) to have them run the script that increases LYNX permissions on your local database to collect this data. This is optional. If you choose not to use the feature, the configuration/translation options appear in the UI, but have no effect.

(displayed if you selected “Use Default Section Event Type” above)

Begin typing, then select the 25Live event type you want for all imported academic sections appended to the 25Live names of imported academic sections with
Institution Codes and Banner

Banner are unable to translate SIS institution codes into 25Live event types or categories until an update script is run by CollegeNET support. Please contact support@collegenet.com for more information.

SettingNotes

Use Default Section Event Type or Section Event Type Translation

This setting determines what event types are used in 25Live. Either all sections will have the same event type by default, or you will use a  Data Translation to set the event type according to a section's details like campus code or section type.

Add "MMP" to Sections with Multiple Meeting Patterns

Select one of these options:

“No” if you don’t want “MMP”
Adds "MMP" to an event's name in 25Live when a section has multiple meeting patterns.
  • “Yes” if you do want “MMP” appended to the 25Live names of imported academic sections with multiple meeting patterns.
  • Add Text to Event Names of Cross-listed Classes or Combined Sections

For example: ECON 101 01 MMP XL BG BTB 202050
If set to "Yes, " all relevant text is applied to each section, but only if that section is explicitly a member of the group in question. For example, if AAA and BBB are cross-listed and BBB is in a bound group with CCC, then BBB gets both XL and BG in the name while AAA just gets XL and CCC just gets BG
the SIS or added to bound groups in LYNX. See LYNX Data Binding Overview for a list of added codes.

Add Section Identifier to Event Name

    Select one of these options:

  • “No” if you don’t want the SIS section identifier appended to the 25Live event names of imported academic sections.
  • “Yes” if you do want the SIS section identifier appended to the 25Live event names of imported academic sections
Adds the section identifier (also known as the course record number or CRN) to an event's name in 25Live.

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want any SIS data elements imported as 25Live event custom attributes.
    • “Yes” if you want the SIS data elements selected in the Specify SIS Data Elements setting to be imported as 25Live event custom attributes. If set to "Yes," the selected data elements will be added as system-defined event custom attributes. It is not necessary to create the attributes in the 25Live Administration Utility before using this functionality. If an event custom attribute for a selected SIS data element doesn't yet exist in 25Live, LYNX will create it with the appropriate database ID.

If enabled, LYNX will add various pieces of SIS data to 25Live events as custom attributes, using either the "code" or "description" value from the SIS.

Selecting any data element here will automatically create a corresponding custom attribute in 25Live.

    Add Event Category for...

    • Cross-listed Classes/Combined Sections
    • Bound Groups
    • Back-to-Back Sections

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want to add a 25Live Event Category to back-to-back sections on import.
    • “Yes” if you do want to add a 25Live Event Category to back-to-back sections on import.

In general, you would enable this setting only if you want to identify back-to-back sections in 25Live without having BTB added to their names using the "Add Text to Event Names of Cross-listed Classes or Combined Sections" setting described above.

In general, you would enable this setting only if you want to identify back-to-back sections in 25Live without having OG added to their names using the "Add Text to Event Names of Cross-listed Classes or Combined Sections" setting described above.

    Event Category for Overlapping Sections

(Displayed if you've selected "Yes" for the Add Event Category for Overlapping Sections setting above.)

Begin typing, then select the 25Live category you want added to overlapping sections.

    Add Terms as Event Categories

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want SIS term codes added as 25Live event categories on import.
    • “Yes” if you do want SIS term codes added as 25Live event categories on import. This setting must be set to “Yes” to use your SIS Term Codes to 25Live Event Categories data translation.

The translation table associated with this setting allows you to match term codes to 25Live categories; for example, the SIS term code "202002" could correspond to the 25Live "Fall 2020" category.

    Add Campuses as Event Categories

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want SIS campus codes added as 25Live event categories on import.
    • “Yes” if you do want SIS campus codes added as 25Live event categories on import. This setting must be set to “Yes” to use your SIS Campus Codes to 25Live Event Categories data translation.
The translation table associated with this setting allows you to match campus codes to 25Live categories; for example, the SIS campus code "PDX" could correspond to the 25Live "Portland Campus" category
    • Overlapping Sections

These settings allow you to search for event bindings in 25Live by adding categories to the relevant events. See LYNX Data Binding Overview for the different types of bindings available. For each binding type, you choose which category to apply.

    Add ____ as Event Categories

    • Terms
    • Campuses
    • Academic Career
    • Location/Region
    • Subterm

These settings enable the Data Translation tables to add event categories in 25Live based on SIS elements like term codes or campuses. Some options are only available for certain SIS types.

    Info
    titleMeaning of "Subterm"

Subterm corresponds to the Part of Term Code in Banner and to the Session Code in Campus Solutions.

Combine Head Count on Cross-listed/Combined Sections

    Select one of these options:

  • "The head count value defined for the cross-list is used" if you want the head count value defined for the cross-listed or combined sections group in the SIS to be used for each of the expected and registered head counts of sections in the bound group.
  • "Head counts of cross-listed sections are summed together" if you want the expected and registered head counts of sections in the cross-listed or combined sections group to be summed.
  • "Do not sum; each cross-listed section uses its own head count" if you want to retain the original expected and registered head count of each section in the cross-listed or combined sections group.

This setting determines how to handle student head counts on combined or cross-listed sections. For example, if MATH 101 and PHYS 101 each have 20 registered students, does this cross-listed class required a room with 20 seats or 40?

You have the option to sum the head counts together (each event uses the identical summed value), keep the original head counts on the sections, or use the headcount value specified in the SIS where the cross-listing is defined.

This setting affects both expected and registered head counts in 25Live.

Combine Head Count on Bound Sections

    Select one of these options:

  • “Head counts on bound sections are summed together” if you want the expected and registered head counts of sections bound using LYNX Bound Group functionality to be summed.
  • “Bound sections retain their original head counts” if you don’t want the expected and registered head counts of

This setting is identical to the previous one, except that it affects sections bound using LYNX

Bound Group functionality to be summed. Sections will retain their original, separate expected and registered head counts

    's Bound Groups configuration.

    Adjust Section Head Count

    Select one of these options:

"Do no adjust" if you don't want the

This setting adjusts expected and registered head counts

of sections adjusted on import."Identify a multiplier for the section EHC and RHC (from

by a specified multiplier, which can be between 1.0

    to

    and 5.0

)" if you want each imported section's Expected Head Count (EHC) and Registered Head Count (RHC) adjusted based on the multiplier defined in the Expected Head Count Multiplier and Registered Head Count Multiplier configuration settings below.
Note: If set to a value higher than 1.0, this is useful for making the Schedule25 Optimizer place classes in larger rooms to accommodate social distancing.

    Expected Head Count Multiplier

(displayed if you selected “Identify a multiplier for the section EHC and RHC...” above)

Enter the multiplier you want applied, from 1.0 to 5.0. For example, if you enter 1.5 in this setting and an imported section has an EHC of 30, its EHC will be adjusted to 45 (30 x 1.5).

    Registered Head Count Multiplier

(displayed if you selected “Identify a multiplier for the section EHC and RHC...” above)

Enter the multiplier you want applied, from 1.0 to 5.0. For example, if you enter 1.5 in this setting and an imported section has an RHC of 30, its RHC will be adjusted to 45 (30 x 1.5).

    .

It is useful for social distancing or other circumstances when you might want to treat a class as though it requires more than one seat per student.

Ignore Non-Overlapping Meeting Patterns in Bound Groups

    Select one of these options:

  • "Yes" if you want imported sections of groups added using LYNX Bound Group functionality to be bound only if the sections meet at the same or overlapping times and have the same location preassignment.
  • "No" if you want all imported sections of groups added using LYNX Bound Group functionality to be bound.

This setting refers to "smart binding", which is the ability for LYNX to check whether meeting patterns "match" before binding them in 25Live.

    (

Smart binding is always applied to cross-listed and combined sections, but

    you choose whether it

only applies to sections and exams in bound groups if "yes" is selected here.

    )

Exclude Meeting Pattern Types When Binding Cross-Listed Sections

    (Banner, Colleague, and Universal only)

Select meeting pattern types here which you do not want to be included in "smart binding

    ".

Add Institution as an Event Category (Banner, Campus Solutions, and Universal only)

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want SIS institution codes added as 25Live event categories on import.
    • “Yes” if you do want SIS institution codes added as 25Live event categories on import. This setting must be set to “Yes” to use your SIS Institution Codes to 25Live Event Categories data translation.

This is optional. If you choose not to use the feature, the configuration/translation options appear in the UI, but have no effect.

Add Academic Career as an Event Category (Campus Solutions, Colleague, Workday, and Universal only)

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want SIS academic careers added as 25Live event categories on import.
    • “Yes” if you do want SIS academic codes added as 25Live event categories on import. This setting must be set to “Yes” to use your SIS Academic Careers to 25Live Event Categories data translation.

Add Location/Region as an Event Category (Campus Solutions and Universal only)

    Select one of these options:

    • “No” if you don’t want SIS locations/regions added as 25Live event categories on import.
    • “Yes” if you do want SIS locations/regions added as 25Live event categories on import. This setting must be set to “Yes” to use your SIS Region Codes to 25Live Event Categories data translation.

Add Subterm as an Event Category (Banner, Campus Solutions, and Universal only)

    InfotitleMeaning of "Subterm

Subterm corresponds to the Part of Term Code in Banner and to the Session Code in Campus Solutions.

    Select one of these options:

“No” if you don’t want SIS subterms added as 25Live event categories on import

    .

  • “Yes” if you do want SIS subterms added as 25Live event categories on import. This setting must be set to “Yes” to use your SIS Subterms to 25Live Event Categories data translation.
  • Define Expected Head Count

(Banner, Campus Solutions, and Universal only)

Select one of these options based on the values you can select from in your SIS:

    • “Use Maximum Enrollment” (applies to Banner, Campus Solutions, and Universal) if you want the SIS maximum enrollment set as the expected head count of imported sections.
    • “Use Requested Room Capacity” (applies to Campus Solutions only) if you want the SIS requested room capacity set as the expected head count of imported sections.
    • “Use Projected Enrollment” (applies to Banner only) if you want the SIS projected enrollment set as the expected head count of imported sections.

This setting determines how expected head count is calculated for 25Live. Different SIS types have different options.
