SettingNotes

Exam Creation Mode

LYNX will either create exams in 25Live as additional meeting pattern profiles (also called "segments") on the original event, or as separate events with their own reference numbers.

Use Default Exam Event Type or Exam Event Type Translation

(displayed if you selected “Exams as separate, related events” above)

Choose one of these options:

  • “Use Default Exam Event Type” if you want the default exam event type entered in the configuration setting below to be the 25Live event type for all exams.
  • “Use Campus Codes to Exam Event Types translation” to use your defined SIS campus codes to 25Live exam event types translation rule to specify the event type of each exam.
  • “Use Region Codes to Exam Event Types translation” (Campus Solutions and Universal only) to use your defined SIS region codes to 25Live exam event types translation rule to specify the event type of each exam.
  • “Use Institution Codes to Exam Event Types translation” (Banner, Campus Solutions, and Universal only) to use your defined SIS institution codes to 25Live exam event types translation rule to specify the event type of each exam.
Note
titleSpecial Note to Current LYNX for Banner Users

If you're already using the Banner version of the Interface, but now want to make use of the Institution Codes (GTVVPDI codes) to Exam Event Types translation feature, please contact Series25 Technical Support (support@collegenet.com) to have them run the script that increases LYNX permissions on your local database to collect this data. This is optional. If you choose not to use the feature, the configuration/translation options appear in the UI, but have no effect.

Default Exam Event Type

(displayed if you selected “Use Default Exam Event Type” above)

Begin typing, then select the 25Live event type you want for all exams.

Exclude Meeting Pattern Types (Banner and Colleague only)

If there are certain section meeting pattern types you don’t want an exam created for, click the “Add New Value” link, begin typing the first meeting pattern type you want to exclude, then select it from the list. Repeat for other meeting pattern types you want to exclude.

Limit Exams for Multiple Meeting Patterns (Colleague and Universal only)

If a section has multiple meeting patterns, the LYNX Interface creates a separate exam for each meeting pattern.

Choose one of these options:

  • “Create exams for all meeting patterns (except those that are excluded)” if you want exams created for all imported sections regardless of meeting pattern, except those you’ve explicitly excluded using the Exclude Meeting Pattern Types setting.
  • “Create an exam only for the earliest meeting pattern” if you want an exam created for only the imported sections with the earliest meeting pattern.
  • “Create an exam only for the latest meeting pattern” if you want an exam created for only the imported section with the latest meeting pattern.

Exclude Session Indicators (Banner only)

If there are certain section meeting pattern session indicators you don’t want an exam created for, click the “Add New Value” link, begin typing the first meeting session indicator you want to exclude, then select it from the list. Repeat for other meeting pattern session indicators you want to exclude.

Define Exam Head Count Information

Choose one of these options:

  • “Use the section’s Expected and Registered Head Count for the exam” if you want the Expected and Registered Head Counts of each imported section saved as the Expected and Registered Head Counts of its associated exam.
  • “Use the section’s Registered Head Count for the exam” if you want the Registered Head Count of each imported section saved as the Expected and Registered Head Counts of its associated exam.

Adjust Exam Head Count

Choose one of these options:

  • “Do not adjust” if you want each exam’s Expected Head Count to be the same as its associated section’s Expected Head Count.
  • Identify a multiplier for the exam EHC and RHC (from 1.0 to 5.0)” if you want each exam’s Expected Head Count (EHC) and Registered Head Count (RHC) to be a specified multiplier higher than its associated section’s EHC and RHC, as defined in the “Expected Head Count Multiplier” and "Registered Head Count Multiplier" configuration settings below.

Expected Head Count Multiplier

(displayed if you selected “Identify a multiplier for the exam EHC and RHC...” above)

Enter the multiplier you want applied, from 1.0 to 5.0. For example, if you enter 1.5 in this setting, and an imported section’s EHC is 30, its associated exam will have an EHC of 45 (30 x 1.5).

Registered Head Count Multiplier

(displayed if you selected “Identify a multiplier for the exam EHC and RHC...” above)

Enter the multiplier you want applied, from 1.0 to 5.0. For example, if you enter 1.5 in this setting, and an imported section’s RHC is 30, its associated exam will have an RHC of 45 (30 x 1.5).

Location Assignment Options

Choose one of these options:

  • "Location assignment on the original section" if you want the assigned exam location to be the same as its associated section location.
  • "No location assignment" if you want the exam location to remain unassigned.

If exams are created as independent events, this setting determines their event type. It operates similarly to the event type option in LYNX Settings - Events.

Exclude Meeting Pattern Types

Exclude Meeting Pattern Types

Exclude Session Indicators

You can use these settings to prevent LYNX from creating undesired exams. You can limit exam creation based on meeting pattern type or session indicator. For sections with multiple meeting patterns, you can choose whether LYNX creates an exam for each meeting pattern or just the first/last one.

These options are not available for all SIS types.

Define Exam Head Count Information

This setting determines how LYNX sets the expected and registered head count values on the exams. It can either use the same values as the original section, or it can use the section's registered head count for both.

Adjust Exam Head Count

This setting adjusts expected and registered head counts by a specified multiplier, which can be between 1.0 and 5.0.

It is useful for privacy spacing or other circumstances when you might want to treat a class as though it requires more than one seat per student, such as social distancing measures.

Location Assignment Options

You can instruct LYNX to use a section's location assignment for its exam as well. If you choose this option, then the location on the exam will automatically be updated if it is changed on the class.

Choosing not to set any locations on exams allows you to use the Schedule25 Optimizer to place them later.
